Yes, Ryan Goolabsingh is a licensed professional engineer in the states of Florida and Texas. RDG Engineering, Inc. is also certified in both states to provide engineering services as a company. Many other solar plans providers do not employ engineers and are not certified to provide engineering services. These companies are drafting companies that hire engineers to sign and seal drawings, which is a violation of state statutes. In addition, delays are often incurred because the drafting companies have to send documents to be signed and sealed by the third party engineer. This can hinder progress, especially when revisions, additional documents, and forms are needed as soon as possible. At RDG Engineering, a licensed engineer has responsible control over all documents produced. As engineers, we also have the expertise and a comprehensive knowledge of the codes that many drafters do not have. This is beneficial especially in jurisdictions with rigorous review processes.
Yes, all our engineering plans are produced by RDG Engineering, Inc. We do not sub out our drafting services to third party companies. Many other solar plans providers use outside drafting services, some of which are located outside the country, as far as India. RDG Engineering is located in Miami, FL and provides in-house drafting services.
At RDG Engineering, Inc. we always strive to turn around residential solar PV projects within 2 to 3 business days. Specialty projects (i.e. battery systems, large commercial projects, ground mounts, etc.) do require more time and can be discussed on a case by case basis.
Per our client feedback, one aspect of RDG Engineering, Inc. that separates us from other solar plans providers is our responsiveness. Our clients are able to call us and talk directly to us, whether they are sitting in an office with a request or standing on a roof with a question. When we get an email or a text from a client, we respond as soon as possible. We also prioritize installer requested revisions to afford as little delay as possible to projects that have already been started.
At this time, we have not found any software that can auto-generate plans that will meet our standards. This means that all site-specific plans are produced by our team using AutoCAD. This reduces the chance of errors and allows us to produce drawings that meet client expectations and specific jurisdiction requirements.
We have done work all through-out the state of Florida, including Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.
Where jurisdictions require hard copies of engineering plans, we can provide printed plans with hand signatures. Depending on the volume of projects, we typically bundle packages for clients and send a few sets at a time. We print our drawings on 11x17 or 8.5x11 sheets and ship using Fedex or a similar service. Fedex usually takes 1 to 2 business days to deliver in Florida, after drop-off.
